Dr. Nereida García-Prado is a passionate education leader, GATE Program Specialist, and adjunct professor committed to advancing culturally and linguistically responsive practices. With over 25 years of experience in TK–12 and higher education, she champions the brilliance of gifted and multilingual learners, particularly those who are historically underserved. Her work bridges gifted education, multilingual education, and culturally responsive teaching, centering the identities, voices, and assets of students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Dr. García-Prado brings deep expertise in systems-level leadership spanning school district, county, and state advocacy. She serves as the Equitable Access Chair for the California Association for the Gifted, an executive board member of the Orange County Council for Gifted and Talented Education, and a district GATE Program Specialist. In these roles, she leads efforts to disrupt inequitable practices and increase the representation of multilingual learners in gifted programs.

Her leadership is grounded in collaboration, collective efficacy, and capacity building. She leads sustainable initiatives that integrate inclusive GATE practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and create the conditions for student-centered learning environments. 

Rooted in her lived experience as a Mexican-American scholar, educator, and advocate, Dr. García-Prado is committed to transforming systems to elevate equity and excellence so all students, especially gifted and multilingual learners, are seen, heard, and celebrated in classrooms.
